The client, who works in the university’s Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences, purchased a combination of Ocean On Land Technology’s revolutionary Aquahive® systems and larval upwellers, which will be used for the production of post-larval clawed lobsters.
As a leading authority within Europe on the restocking of clawed lobsters, the university will use these products to further develop its existing lobster restocking programme. The programme focuses on providing further research on lobster culture techniques, behavioural studies, as well as recommendations for quantifying the success of future lobster restocking programmes.
Dr Matthew Johnston, Aquatic Nutrition and Lobster Specialist at Ocean On Land Technology, commented: “Being the supplier of choice for such an important leader in the global lobster market is a key indicator that our research and product development continues to be globally recognised. We share the university’s passion for further researching the culturing of lobsters on land and hope to continue to work with them as their programme progresses”.
Italy is the 6th European country to purchase products from Ocean On Land Technology, with others including Norway, the UK and France. The company’s products are also currently in use at a number of countries outside of Europe including Canada, Singapore and the British Virgin Islands.
