Cadman Capital Group [Cadman], the independent private equity group, today announced the sale of Orkney Shellfish Hatchery, its state-of-the-art hatchery facility producing premium, disease-free shellfish products.
The sale has been made to a specialist aquaculture operator for an undisclosed fee, and will deliver a return of >1.5x money to Cadman Capital investors over a three year horizon.
Established by Cadman in 2018 to fill a supply gap in the UK oyster spat market, the hatchery has successfully developed breakthroughs in full cycle oyster farming, breeding programmes, and biosecurity protocols to become a leading supplier to the restoration and farming markets throughout Europe. Over the course of the investment, Cadman Capital’s unique combination of aquaculture expertise and operational excellence enabled the Company to successfully accelerate and expand its research and development in multiple areas.
James Dinsdale, Chief Executive Officer of Cadman commented “We are delighted to announce the sale of Orkney Shellfish Hatchery. The sale is evidence that our strategy of investing and operating businesses that make a difference in solving real world problems can deliver significant returns to our investment community”.
